FOREST CITY GOLF RESORT ATTAINS PRESTIGIOUS GEO CERTIFIED STATUS FOR BOTH COURSES

ISKANDAR PUTERI, 21 MAY 2025: Forest City Golf Resort has achieved a significant milestone, with both of its 18-hole golf courses earning the esteemed GEO Certified status, making it one of only two golf resorts in Malaysia to be recognised with this global sustainability accreditation.

Awarded by the Golf Environment Organization (GEO), the GEO Certified label is internationally recognised as golf’s most credible standard for environmental and social responsibility. It assesses golf facilities based on three key pillars: Nature, Resources and Community.

Of the nearly 40,000 golf courses worldwide, fewer than 1 per cent—approximately 240—have received this certification. In Asia, such recognition remains exceedingly rare, placing Forest City Golf Resort in an exclusive category of environmentally responsible golf destinations.

“Forest City Golf Course has made commendable strides in embracing sustainable practices, demonstrating a clear commitment to environmental stewardship and continual improvement,” said Brad Revil, an independent verifier accredited by GEO, following a comprehensive on-site audit.

He noted the facility’s initiatives including the reduction of turfgrass areas, trial use of native species, installation of water-efficient irrigation systems, and active habitat and wetland protection efforts. “I am looking forward to seeing their habitat management and community outreach plans develop over the coming years,” he added.

The certification is endorsed by major international golf bodies including the European Tour and Asian Tour, and is often referred to as the sport’s “green passport.”

In addition, the Forest City Golf Club has consecutively won two prestigious industry awards. First, in the "2024-2025 Asia-Pacific Top 100 Golf Courses"  ranking hosted by the authoritative golf industry selection organization " Cloud Golf,," the Forest City Legacy Golf Course ranked 49th. This achievement not only further demonstrates the course's exceptional quality but also represents a significant breakthrough in the development of this golf resort located in Johor.

Subsequently, the Forest City Classic Course brought another piece of good news — it honorably ranked 50th in the " Top 100 Golf Courses in Asia 2025" selection hosted by the highly professional and authoritative Golf Travel magazine, rising 14 places from its 2024 ranking, and became one of only three selected courses in Malaysia. It is worth mentioning that this is the sixth consecutive year that the Classic Course has been listed in this authoritative ranking, fully reflecting its continuous excellence in design concepts, venue maintenance, and service standards.

Since its opening in 2018, the Forest City Golf Resort has successively won more than ten industry awards, continuously demonstrating its benchmark position in Asia's high-end golf tourism landscape and attracting golf enthusiasts from around the world. In 2024, the resort received over 100,000 golfers, making it one of the golf clubs with the highest reception volume in Malaysia and a well-established golf tourism destination in the country.
